According to Cornwall Insight, home energy prices are forecast to rise by 5% from April, which means around an £85 per year increase to energy bills.
This means your typical household, using a typical amount of gas and electricity, would pay around £1,823 a year.
These predicted higher prices also come into effect at the same time we're expected to see an increase to both water and council bills. Cornwall Insight are putting this price hike down to a combination of the colder weather alongside a fall in gas storage levels across Europe, which has triggered a sharp increase in wholesale prices.
As the rise takes effect in April, at a time the days get lighter and warmer, we're all hoping for a nice and warm British Summer this year!
